Summer Transfer Window

It could be that the remaining targets on our list are only going to move later in the transfer window.

Players like O'Brien, who clearly aren't wanted at their current club but the club wants as much money as possible for them, or the player is waiting for a better contract offer. Or out of contract players who are holding out for a better offer from a club.

If we want a young PL player on loan, they usually don't happen until the clubs have finished their pre-season tours and decided which youngsters are going to be part of their first team squads and which aren't, freeing the latter up for loans.

There's also players who the club are aware will become available, but the selling club needs to buy a player first. Or we need to sell a player before being able to make the signing. The transfer market is often described as a set of dominoes waiting for the first one to fall and that does seem to be pretty accurate.

TL;DR - it wouldn't be a surprise if any other signings come towards the end of the transfer window.
What’s does TL DR mean?

I would be happy waiting later on in the window if we got the players or the quality in positions we want to strengthen except for LB, we need someone in there as it's the only position where we don't have decent experienced cover.
I know the plan would be Key going in there and Galbraith over to RB if any issues occur.

The Turkish connection in South Wales has hardly been a winner recently!
Strange thing is that we have (through skilful management) put ourselves in a position where we are 1. a desirable location 2. not desperate through doing early business. We can afford to let players like O'Brien and McBurnie sit - and see if a deal emerges that suits us
The change in the way this club is being run is remarkable.

"Happy" might be a strong word, but I wouldn't lose much sleep if we started the season with what we currently have and waited to see what happened as things get a bit tighter for clubs and players.

Most of those who have left have already been replaced. Even if Yates goes I wouldn't see him as someone we needed to rush to find an alternative for. We managed without him last season. We did good early work, very early in Widell's case. Now we can afford to negotiate from a position of relative strength.

I know I was a bigger fan of his than most, but in the long run Naughton might be the hardest to replace. Potentially four positions covered by one player who isn't there any more.

For what we paid, Naughton is up there with our best ever signings imho.

I've always loved a utility player. Beaker is up there on my all time list too for the same reasons. The amount of options they give a manager is a huge benefit.
On this, I've had a sniff about to see if I can find a suitable replacement across the back four.

Unsurprisingly, slim pickings for free agents, but one player caught my eye - Nathan Ferguson.

I remember him signing for Palace from WBA as a promising youngster, and that he ended up completely crocked, barely playing. Bloke hasn't had a club for an entire season, but he's 24, and according to this article - https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/...han-ferguson-crystal-palace-west-brom-5228247 - on trial at Portsmouth.

I'm usually completely against signing players with horrendous injury records, but I imagine he'd demand a low salary, and could potentially be a real coup if he got over his fitness issues

Did any of squad play in both sessions today? Also who didn't play in either..
