• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Impressive. If he signs, along with Widdell and Eom we will be a very attractive watch next season.

    Zeidane Inoussa

Zeidane Inoussa had an average Fotmob rating of 7.37 last season, which is pretty good. 6 goals against an expected 3.44 suggests a clinical finisher, which we sorely need. 3 assists and 91st percentile on chances created. 97th percentile on dribbling success. Best in league for touches in...

Fotmob says that Wales' primary position is as a striker, but has also played as an AM, LW and RW.

    Harry Darling …

Excellent with the ball, and 5 goals and 3 assists is an impressive tally. 7.14 average Fotmob rating, second only to Cabango (7.17), puts him in the top 15 per cent or so in the Championship. However, his defending has been average at best. He simply switches off at times, and fails to make the...

    Bobby Wales To Sign

In an ideal world everything aligns: data, video analysis and scouting. But in those instances the chances are we would lose out to better resources teams. The hope here is that he has potential that is yet to be fulfilled. Given he's still only 20 that may well be the case. I understand the...

    Bobby Wales To Sign

His stats are modest so I guess this move, should it materialise, is more down to video analysis and scouting than data. Although there may be data not available in the public domain that indicates his capabilities.

    Possession football overhyped?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cedy4xe2e32o Goes to show it's still possible to overachieve in the modern game with an intense possession based philosophy.

    O’Brien

We've definitely been set up in a 4-1-4-1 in some games under Sheehan, with Allen or Fulton sitting in front of the back 4, and Franco and O'Brien further forward. There have also been other setups with Franco alongside Fulton or Allen.

    Possession football overhyped?

If it was Sheehan's cunning plan to win that game based on a single meaningful effort on goal all game (total expected goals 0.23) then we've made a big mistake appointing Sheehan. As it is we just got lucky on the day. It happens. Fortunately there have been a lot of deserved victories under...

    O’Brien

Sheehan has gone with a 4-1-4-1 on several occasions, especially when Allen has started games. So I see Widdell slotting in alongside O'Brien (if he signs) or Franco.

    Possession football overhyped?

All good points, but it's worth adding that Liverpool have still averaged over 58 per cent possession, behind City and Chelsea. Everything else being equal it's still better to have the ball than not have it.

    Possession football overhyped?

To finish outside the top 10 only on goals scored was an astonishing achievement for a club of our resources, that shouldn't be underplayed. We were everybody's favourites to finish bottom let alone be relegated. Sure there were some bad days, inevitably so, but there were more good ones than...

    Possession football overhyped?

A long time ago I came across at article that showed a remarkable correlation between our possession stats and our premier league position. From our first season our possession counts dropped season on season, dropping below 50 per cent in Monk's second season. By the time we were relegated we...

    Possession football overhyped?

The really telling stat in that article is that only two teams since 2003/04 have managed a top 4 finish with less than 50 per cent possession. That's two out of 80. It's great that Forest have done so well this season with a counter attacking approach. Football without variety is boring. But...

    Possession Vs Territory

I agree entirely, and it would be over simplistic to say we're playing hoof ball. But Vigouroux launches the ball a bit too often for my liking, roughly 3 balls are hit long for every shorter pass. The vast majority of his shorter passes are completed compared to around 25-30 per cent of the...

    Possession Vs Territory

It's going to take a while but we need to see Sheehan's Swans for what they are, not for what they're not. Martin, Duff and Williams are gone, so let's focus on what Sheehan is bringing to the table, good and bad. For what it's worth I think Sheehan has done a fantastic job with our defense...

    Possession Vs Territory

It's still early days, but I'm intrigued to know what the Sheehan philosophy is. The early signs are that he's happy to trade possession for territory. I don't have the figures, but it's obvious that our possession figures have dropped, from 60 per cent under Williams to close to 50 per cent...

    Wrecsam

I don't think they have the recruitment teams in place to recruit outside the UK, although I daresay that's something they plan to change. So far all players recruited have been UK based. I think they will finish top half. They will make a number of eye catching signings of top Championship...
