Kim Hellberg - New Manager?

If he does come, I always feel so sorry for the fans of the club that have just lost their manager.
Especially as he was building something they were excited about.
But unfortunately for all fans, “‘Twas ever thus”
And the Swings & roundabouts keep moving.

Linked to another player from Sweden. He seems to create and score lots and had a good season. I would be a little worried that we are over indexing on people from Sweden before any of them have been a success yet and he looks like he plays the same position as Melker but much more attacking. Maybe we know a secret and Swedish football is better than we think but their clubs are also struggling in Europe.
Oh another midfielder!

It just feels to me like another potential appointment made off the back of fancy stats and heatmaps, like with Martin and Williams. We're taking a risk on a coach whose numbers may stand up to a certain extent but, crucially, at an inferior standard to the division we're in.

Look at Tim Walter and Johannes Thorup from last season - parachuted in from nowhere, struggled, got sacked. Going back a bit further you had Duff with us. Bulut at Cardiff came with the sort of narrative now surrounding Hellberg, but we know how that ended.

Sorry to put a downer on things but to me, it just feels like an enormous and unnecessary risk of making the same mistakes we've made previously.

Reading this it’s now a resounding yes from me

I never thought when living in Sweden back in 1985 with no opportunity of getting any reports on the Swans matches that I'd be reading articles about the Swans in Aftonbladet 40 years later!

Breaking News - He’s been offered a new contract by his current club. But I feel that if we want him we will get him anyway.

Some fans on Twitter starting to have a meltdown as he hasn’t signed yet. They think he’s going elsewhere. These things take time. Patience

If he really wants to manage in English Football, he’ll take one of the 4 jobs available in The Championship at the moment. A strange situation where we are arguably the least attractive job open at the minute. Rare that you’d see good quality jobs like Southampton, Norwich and Boro all up for grabs at the same time.

I imagine he’s in a very good position to not rush into decisions. He is already at a club that he could progress further with, and he potentially has a lot of suiters in the Championship.

I don’t think it’s a certain that he’ll accept what we would offer him (but I hope he does). He could well decide to wait until he can have a full pre season with a new team

I wonder if there's some sort of additional benefit to the club if they offer him a new deal? Like increased compensation etc

Hammarby have offered boss Kim Hellberg a new deal in a last-ditch attempt to convince him to stay at the club.

The 37-year-old is in London after being granted permission to speak to Swansea City about their head coach vacancy.

Hellberg is Swansea’s number one target to replace Alan Sheehan, who was sacked earlier this week. Talks are ongoing with the Swansea hierarchy, Hellberg and his representative.

However, Hammarby still want to keep hold of Hellberg, who has one year left on his contract. It’s believed they have offered their boss an extension with improved terms.

The Swedish club’s sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg said: “It’s no secret that he is in London. He has kept us updated on everything, so everything is under control there.

“It was nice and good as usual and there are no secrets between us in any case. Kim is doing extremely well in Hammarby, but we also know that he has dreams and ambitions."

If his agent is doing his job properly he will have been in touch with the other 3 clubs - I hear boro want Gerrard , Norwich are going with tomasson or O’neil. Southampton rumours include Tonda eckert. So maybe we have a clear road - it’s all gossip

If Hellberg has been in touch with his current chairman and they’ve offered him new terms and contract that to me doesn’t sound likes he’s had positive talks with us?

I think that’s just normal club behaviour -we did exactly the same with Martinez and Rodgers. The Hammarby statement also said they know he’s ambitious. Maybe it’s to show the fans they’re trying to keep him - who knows - no one except the people involved in negotiations.
