Went for my first visit to the Mestalla yesterday with a bunch of lads from my walking football group to see Valencia lose 2-1 to Osasuna.
Overall impressions, not a bad stadium but a shyteload of steps to cope with for someone like me with dodgy knees! I was quite pleased with the seats we had for 30 euros, behind the goal at the north end about halfway up. The terraces are incredibly steep but each row has a safety fence in front of it, so not too bad.
I thought the two teams were League One standard and would have backed the Swans to beat either of them. The Spanish league, other than the top four or five clubs, is at a pretty poor standard at the minute. It was a 6.30pm kick off and absolutely baking in there until after half time when the sun went behind the stand.
I can only imagine what the famous night must have been like when we went there and beat them 3-0, an occasion I unfortunately missed.
