One of the worst pieces of business we've ever done

4 points in front of us? With QPR and Rotherham leading, and some of the games we have coming up, I'd be more worried about us in that regard to be honest E.

Edit, Rotherham not leading.

I think we'll be above them by the time we play

They're in free fall

That would be pretty sweet given all the stuff I've had to put up with from two of their fans on how they've 'turned the corner' and 'finally have a great manager'.

Let's be fair, they're only above us as we had our worst start in 15 or so years. This is supposedly their best season in years too ffs...

They'll be in amongst it come end of season I think. I think we'll be pushing top half in the end.

If his stock gets higher and he sells for 8 figures it’ll be a decent bit of business with the sell on clause, but from a footballing perspective it’s been a weird episode.

Hope he gets sold before they play us on February 3rd. The way he was bursting through the middle today for his goal he could give Fulton 20yds start and still go past him.

16 goals and 6 assists - best in the league, and he captained his side today, too

Didn't see much of him but he always looked to have something when I did. Very positive and always looking to drive forward and get a shot off. Bizarre situation all round and a poor reflection on the management of our club in recent years

When he played in his proper position he scored a hat trick.. then Martin put him at wing back in one game and everyone said he didn't work hard enough.. Piroe didn't work hard either.. but Piroe didn't play wb.. no wonder Whittaker had a strop

I was very happy he moved on. Dont think the club deserves any money at all as the club did nothing to further his career.

Swansea City and Russel Martin vs Morgan Whittaker is as close to a textbook definition of mismanagement on a professional, individual and business level as you will possibly ever see.

First Martin ignores his very existence and he is left with the reserves for most of the season. He gets a chance in a cup game up front and smashes in a hat trick at a time when we can't buy a win and struggling for goals, his reward was to be played once out of position at wing back and then ignored again for almost the whole season.

Secondly he goes out for loan to Plymouth and has a hugely promising first half of the season when he is being played in his preferred position (not one of Martin's strengths with any player during his time with us). The club smelling a quick buck cut short his loan and bring him back early in the window. The club cannot play him during the window as a player can only play for two clubs in any given season so unless Plymouth buy him after we play him no other club would be able to play him for the rest of the season.

After finding no buyers for Whittaker a player who was loving his football again is promptly banished to the reserves again by Martin who bizarrely just doesn't like him... this is during the infamous 3 wins in 23 games period.

Martin goes in the summer but understandably the player just does not want to be at the club anymore and was never going to give any manager a chance, he just wanted out. Plymouth having got promoted managed to find the cash, lo and behold he is currently the top performer of the division and is now attracting eight figure attention from elsewhere.

I believe that if the club had not cut short his loan there was a possibility that he might have taken the chance to knuckle down under a new manager but the club itself burned that bridge when the owners tried to make a quick buck off of him.
