The job became available when the Sky Blues parted company with Swansea born Chris Coleman after the season finished and the Guardian has linked Sousa along with several others with the job.
Former Coventry favourite Gary McAllister is allegedly at the head of a list that also includes Steve Cotterill, Alan Curbishley, Tony Mowbray and Gareth Southgate although the Guardian reports that Ray Ranson and his board are yet to have made contact with anyone regards the vacant position.
Coleman was dismissed after Coventry failed to win any of their last 11 games of the season and he said "We have analysed his performance and the team's performance over the last couple of weeks
"The way the season has finished has been a major factor but it has been a reflection over the last couple of years, and the decision has been made to look for fresh impetus. We will not be rushed into finding a successor and the board will explore every avenue to appoint the right manager to take Coventry City Football Club forward."
