Michael Laudrup’s side, holdaing a four goal advantage from the first leg, were backed by a noisy travelling support of over 1000 Jacks and were able to afford the luxury of seven changes from the first leg last week at the Liberty Stadium.
They now face a two legged side against opponents to be decided tomorrow later this month to see if they can progress to the group stages at the first time of asking.
Laudrup bought into the side as changes from last week’s win Gerhard Tremmel, Jazz Richards, Chico Flores, Neil Taylor, Jon De Guzman, Jose Canas and Pozuelo as he looked to give many of his squad a run out in a tie that was effectively over after their demolition of their Swedish opponents last week at the Liberty Stadium.
Malmo provided more of a threat than they did seven days ago but if truth was known they never really troubled Tremmel in the Swansea goal and it always looked like the Swans who were most likely to change the 4-0 aggregate scoreline.
Michu, Bony and Routledge all came close in the first half on a night when the Swans never really reached the dizzy heights of performance that they saw last week but they were still too strong for their opponents and can now look forward to the start of their Premier League campaign in nine days time when Manchester United visit the Liberty Stadium.
Check back tomorrow for news of the Swans next opponents in the competition.
