Feeney A Sub As N Ireland Lose

Warren Feeney was a second half substitute as Northern Ireland lost ground in their Euro 2008 qualifying group with a 1-0 defeat to Latvia.

A win for the Northern Irish would have seen them move joint top of their group with Sweden but instead they remain second – but tied on points with Spain.

Feeney’s appearance was his 14th cap for his country with two goals to his credit.

There was no Swansea players in action elsewhere for their country yesterday although former full back Sam Ricketts was in action for Wales as they were beaten 2-0 by German in Cardiff.

Feeney should be in action again on Wednesday night as N Ireland travel to Iceland.
