The defender – who enters his 9th season with the Swans in August – is pleased that the club have kept the traditional colours of white but with the copper trim have also recognised the city’s history and links with the copper industry.

Speaking to JD Football, Rangel also looked forward to the new season when it said “It is going to be tough, I have big ambitions and expectations but the most important thing is that we establish ourselves in the Premier League and finish in the Top 10 again.

“The players, the fans and the city have always been very close and the club is familiar, everyone at the club is very grounded and work hard.

“It’s important in the Premier League to rely on the home form and we have grown that. It is important to have your fans behind you in the good and bad moments and we have that – you couldn’t ask for any more.

“Because we are a family club it is easy for new players to come in and settle quickly and over the years I have seen many players come from a hot country to a wet place like Swansea and in a few weeks it feels like home. That’s very important for any player to come to a place, settle quickly and enjoy your football and thankfully Swansea ticks all the boxes to do that.

“I’ve seen players move to clubs for more money but I’ve been lucky to be here so long and I couldn’t have moved. The most important thing is we have a good group of coaches and a good manager and you have so many people around to help you. It’s been great”
