Hot on the heels of the much sought-after (sic!) signing of Lee De Vulgt, Gareth Phillips has signed a new contract that will impose him on the NB faithful for another two years.
This news comes in a week when manager John Hollins signed his first player with football league experience in John Williams.
No disrespect to Phillips, who is no doubt increasing in ability, but most Swans fans when they see that Giovanni Savarese, Steve Jones and Stuart Roberts were also out of contract, the name of Phillips would have been fourth on that list of ‘people we would like to re-sign.
Of course, in an ideal world, or is that under ideal management, we would have signed all these players and also be looking to spend some cash like Mr Hamman is further up the M4.
But, that of course, is too much to ask of a ownership that has spent just how much in the last three years?
And of course, a managing director whose antics forced John Hollins to return from holiday early last week to try and stop him ripping the squad apart.
Dare I say, that is the dangers of people being involved in football who only really care about themselves?
