Meet The Ref – Blackpool |
Saturday’s referee is Anthony Bates from Staffordshire; he became a Football League ref in 1996. His claim to fame is he once was the assistant referee in the EURO 96 Final between Germany and the Czech Republic and also the 1996 FA Cup Final between Man Utd and Liverpool. This will be the second time he’s refereed a Swansea game this season, his previous game was the 7-1 thumping of Bristol City (let’s hope that’s a good omen!) This season Anthony Bates averages 2.7 Yellows per game. Stats so far this season: 32 Games, 89 Yellows, 7 Reds.
