Jones was speaking as the match loomed on the horizon with the prize for the winners being a place in the fourth round draw of the Carling Cup.

There must be a winner at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night and Jones will be hopeful that his run in cup matches can continue as he eyes a performance similair to those which took Cardiff to the FA Cup final last season.

Speaking in today’s Western Mail, the Cardiff boss said โ€œI realise what it means to fans and all the bragging rights when they go to work the next day

โ€œWe want to keep this decent run going and everyone on the staff at Cardiff City wants to win every game we field a team in.

โ€œWe will treat it and deal with it in the same manner as we did for, say, the Bristol City game, the other week.

โ€œYes, there is a lot of passion in derby games but it has to be controlled, because you just wonโ€™t win games on passion.

โ€œBut there is an added spice because itโ€™s a local derby and itโ€™s good that players have an opportunity to play in such a cup game.

โ€œThe Carling Cup is a serious competition and whichever side I put out on the night I expect them to do well.

โ€œThat is why they are at this club. It doesnโ€™t matter whether they are kids or seniors, I expect them to perform.

โ€œI just hope there is no trouble.

โ€œPeople should treat it as a football match and no more.โ€
