Gower watched as Scotland scored twice on Saturday to secure three points for the Swans against Wolves and he now believes that his team mate will get better as the season goes on.
Scotland was dropped from the Swans squad last week for the victory over Preston but bounced back in style against Wolves and Gower told the Western Mail “It looked like dropping him did the trick, It obviously worked because he’s gone out and shown just what a good player he is.
“And it’s great playing with him when he’s in that kind of form because you know the ball will hold up with him, you know you can make your runs without him giving it away and he will use you if it’s right.
“He’s great off both feet and there’s more to just goals with him – he’s got his own unique style and if things don’t come off, with the way he’s laid back, then it can frustrate.
“So I’m really pleased for him because he was under a bit of pressure, but got his goals which speak for themselves.
“He will get more at this level, I’m sure of that. We just have to get him the ball around the box and, if people are patient with him, he will do well, I’m sure of that.”
Gower himself was denied a first Swans goal against Wolves when a linesmans flag ruled the goal out for offside against Jordi Gomez who seemed to be onside at the time. Gower added “I didn’t think he touched it – not that it mattered in the end,” he said. “I’ve hit the post a couple of times – but hopefully it will come soon.
“I’m sure getting one will have the right impact on me and hopefully it’s just a matter of time.”
