The former Swansea City boss was speaking to the Western Mail about his replacement’s chancesย of making the play offs this season.

โ€œI think they can make the play-offs,โ€ said Jackett, who left the Swansea hotseat in February 2007.

โ€œTheyโ€™re within touching distance of the top six and theyโ€™ve got great momentum as a club.

โ€œTheir home record is strong as well.

โ€œLooking at the other two โ€“ Nottingham Forest and Doncaster โ€“ who went up with them, shows you how well Swansea have done.

โ€œThe support is very passionate and not unlike Millwall in that way.

โ€œWhen youโ€™re going well theyโ€™re right behind you at home and like a 12th man.

โ€œBodde played very well against us last season, he was excellent and any club would miss someone as good as him,โ€ he said.

โ€œBut Robertoโ€™s signed very, very well and added to the squad. It looks strong overall.โ€

Jackett was also keen to talk up his own side’s chances of success this term – Millwall currently lie 2nd in League One, two points beind leaders Leicester City.

โ€œWeโ€™ve set some really high standards in the first half of the season and itโ€™s up to us now to maintain that,โ€ said Jackett.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got to go for promotion now.

โ€œWeโ€™ve worked very hard to get ourselves in this position and itโ€™s a lot better being at this end of the league than where we were last year or the year before.

โ€œItโ€™s a challenge we should enjoy, and go for it in the second half of the season.โ€
