The former Swansea City midfielder was involved in an accident on Wednesday afternoon and is currently in hospital under treatment for his injuries.

A statement from Yeovil manager Russell Slade on their website said “Darren was pleased to see meย but obviously not in a good way. His parents and wife were also with him, as they have been since the accident.

“I would like to point out that contraryย to reports on the Swansea web site Darren has not broken both his arms and both his legs.

“Doctors are still assessing his injuries to one leg and one arm and we will report further as he progresses.”

His former manager at Swansea, Roberto Martinez said upon hearing of the accident โ€œIt was a huge shock for us, and all weโ€™ve done since is hope to hear as much good news as possible.

โ€œA lot of the squad are very concerned for him and have been in touch with his family to try and see how he is doing.

โ€œWhen you hear something like that it worries you and it puts things in perspective.

โ€œHe had terrible luck with injuries here but it looked as though he was enjoying his football at Yeovil and then something like this happens.

โ€œWe just hope that everything will be fine with him.

โ€œHe is a special character; off the pitch he was so lively and had time for everyone.

โ€œHe always had a smile even when things didnโ€™t go well for him โ€“ he has may friends here and we just hope he can get through this.

โ€œBut Darren is a huge fighter and a winner and I am sure because of that he will be fine.โ€
