The Swansea City winger will come face to face with Simon Davies – a former team mate and friend from their Tottenham days.

Davies could line up for Fulham as the Swans look to secure a second Premiership scalp of the cup run following the victory over Portsmouth in the last round.

Speaking to the Western Mail, Gower said โ€œI spoke to him after the Wigan game and, although heโ€™s having treatment on his hamstring, I know heโ€™s hopeful of playing and โ€“ in his own words โ€“ hoping to smash me

โ€œAnd, although Iโ€™ve been rested for the last couple of cup games, Iโ€™m hoping we will be up against each other at some stage of the game.

โ€œBecause with him on the right and me on the left it should be fun โ€“ I donโ€™t know how serious it will actually get.

โ€œWeโ€™ve never played each other before, but football chucks these things up and neither of us can wait.

โ€œIโ€™ve even had to get his mates tickets for the game because they all want to be in the Swansea end!

โ€œAnd weโ€™ve already been on the phone speaking about it and I was asking all about Fulham, making sure he told me all about them.

โ€œI know he felt they should have all three points against Wigan last Saturday

โ€œHe speaks very highly of Roy Hodgson and says theyโ€™re a well-oiled unit where everybody knows their jobs.

โ€œThey play with almost a back six with two boys in front of the defence who will be looking to stop the supply to Jason Scotland and hit us on the break. Theyโ€™ve got that quality and pace up front, so Iโ€™m sure thatโ€™s what theyโ€™ll be aiming to do.

โ€œHeโ€™s one of those players who you know will give 100 per cent every single week, heโ€™s never let anyone down and has that quality and ability to play at the top level as he has done for a number of years.

โ€œIt will be a nice occasion for me personally if we go up against each other,โ€ said Gower, who plays off a score of 12 at gold compared to Daviesโ€™ two.

โ€œBut itโ€™s a great opportunity for us as a team, first and foremost, because it is a game we can enjoy.

โ€œWeโ€™ve done well in the league recently so we know the next few games will be really pressurised. This one is a game we can enjoy because, even if we lose, then we know weโ€™ve had a good run.

โ€œItโ€™s a chance for the quarter-finals which would have been unthinkable for this club just a few years ago.

โ€œBut weโ€™ve deserved the chance, we knocked out the holders on merit and we know the place will be rocking.

โ€œWhen I do score it will probably be on the front page

โ€œIโ€™ll probably get people saying I still havenโ€™t scored in the league even if I do manage one on Saturday, but Iโ€™ll take anything I can get on the scoresheet at the moment.โ€
