He said after the game โ€œThere are mixed feelings because Iโ€™m delighted with the performance and the way we reacted after our own mistake with the goal โ€“ but then disappointed that we didnโ€™t win the game.

โ€œAnd it just goes to show again that sometimes performances donโ€™t bring you the result they deserve โ€“ and it was one of those days.

โ€œBut it is a great learning curve for us and a great experience we can use.

โ€œI look at some phases of play, the majority of possession, the chances we created and the very good goal we scored.

โ€œThey are huge positives when you consider this was against a good Premiership side at the right end of the table.

โ€œPeople may be surprised the way we contained them but that is the way we have been.

โ€œIf they had seen us week-in week-out that is us, and that is why my only concern before the game was to be ourselves.

โ€œI feel very proud of my players because of that โ€“ but at the same time you need to win games when you play like that, no matter who you play against and we didnโ€™t do that.

โ€œWe have to be realistic when you look at their record at home that this was our best chance to go through.

โ€œWeโ€™re not going to go there and not give it a go and try and win. But Fulham got away with it a bit here and we have to be realistic that it will be tough in the replay โ€“ but we will go there with our best intentions.

โ€œTo face a Premier League team and not be defensively-minded shows something about the confidence and belief in this team.

โ€œItโ€™s something we can build on for the rest of the year.โ€
