The Swansea City goalkeeper put in a man of the match display on Tuesday night but it was not enough to keep the Swans in the FA Cup leaving them to concentrate solely on the league and their push for the Premier League.

They currently sit just outside the play off positions but entertain relegation threatened Charlton on Saturday – the first of seven games in a hectic 21 day schedule.

And Dorus believes that the Cup run – they took Fulham all the way as well as knocking out the cup holders on their own patch – shows that the Swans are ready for the Premier League should they book their place in the next few months.

Speaking to the Western Mail, De Vries said โ€œThis team is ready to take the positives from the cup and kick on now

โ€œWeโ€™ve got 13 games left in the league and show the same pride weโ€™ve done since November.

โ€œItโ€™s a talented group of players and weโ€™re still learning and progressing.

โ€œBut we know that if our mentality is right then something beautiful can happen.

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t seem like a huge gap between these teams and ourselves,โ€ he said.

โ€œOf course, itโ€™s completely different over a whole season than just a few games.

โ€œBut I think weโ€™ve got the talent in the team to adapt to certain circumstances.

โ€œWe showed that against Portsmouth, Fulham at home and again away on a ground where theyโ€™ve got the second-best Premier League home record.

โ€œWe showed that too against West Brom in a pre-season friendly which we drew 0-0.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got a taste of the Premier League now โ€“ a good taste.

โ€œAs players that is what we dream of, the Premier League is a great attraction and that is the stage where we want to be.

โ€œWe worked so hard, but perhaps we just dropped back a little bit too much,โ€ reflected de Vries.

โ€œThey pushed on and physically theyโ€™re a strong side, but weโ€™ve got to keep the lock on the door in those situations.

โ€œWe were caught out of position by a quick corner-kick and weโ€™ve got to notice that danger.

โ€œBut in every experience there are learning moments. We had that against Charlton in the first game of season at this new level and itโ€™s been the same again in the cup.

โ€œThe positive thing is that during the season we are learning to cope with whatโ€™s being asked of us in the Championship.โ€
