The Swansea City goalkeeper says that one offerย has been made but his agent has made new suggestions that they await the club’s response on.

With Dorus having a seemingly high stock at the moment due to some good performances, Brendan Rodgers has already said that a new contract may be the most important signing the club could make at the moment and that is something that Dorus seems keen to make happen.

โ€œThereโ€™s been some email traffic between my agent and the chairman and thatโ€™s where it is at the moment,โ€ Dorus told the Western Mail

โ€œMy agent gave the club a new proposal and itโ€™s up to the club to respond to that.

โ€œIโ€™ve turned down one offer from the club because we had something else in mind and itโ€™s now down to the chairman to respond to that.

โ€œI started negotiations because my initial thought was to get a deal done.

โ€œIf I didnโ€™t want to stay here I wouldnโ€™t even be negotiating.

โ€œWeโ€™ve put something on the table which we think is reasonable and itโ€™s up to the club to decide whether it is up for it โ€“ yes or no. I want to stay for the long term โ€“ three or four years, I donโ€™t care.

โ€œThis contract is a big decision for me and my family. Iโ€™ll talk to my wife whether we see our future here. Youโ€™ve got to plans these things because you donโ€™t want to be unsettled for any reason.

โ€œWhen youโ€™re a professional youโ€™re just focused on the next game,โ€ he said.

โ€œIโ€™ve experienced this in my last contracts when people ask about your situation.

โ€œItโ€™s happened a couple of times now, but I just stay real positive about it because I want to focus on the next game.

โ€œThereโ€™s big decisions to be made, but the important thing right now are the games.

โ€œIโ€™ve enjoyed my time since Iโ€™ve been here and Iโ€™ve enjoyed working with the gaffer and my goalkeeping coach Adrian Tucker.

โ€œIโ€™ve got ambitions to test myself at a higher level and letโ€™s hope we can get there with Swansea City and progress together like we have been doing the last couple of seasons.โ€

De vries was named man of the match against Millwall on Friday and De Vries added “Iโ€™m not really too happy about it because it means Iโ€™m too busy, especially at home

โ€œBut, of course, Iโ€™m happy to contribute and be there when called upon.

โ€œThe good thing about it is that it helps us dig out results, but Iโ€™d rather see a team-mate get man of the match because it probably means that we are on the winning side.

โ€œIt seems to be the other way round at the moment, we are digging great results away from home and dropping points at home.

โ€œItโ€™s a little bit different from the beginning of season, but weโ€™ve got to be patient at home when teams just dig in and try and take a point.โ€
