The Swansea City manager will this evening take charge of the biggest game of his managerial career against Nottingham Forest knowing that a victory for his side will leave them potentially just 90 minutes away from the Premier League.

And he knows that between that and the emotions around the anniversary of the passing of Besian Idrizaj will make for a pumped up atmosphere at the Liberty Stadium this evening.

He told the Western Mail “This will be an emotional night. It’s almost a year to the day since young Besian died and I remember the first home game where we asked for a response and as players and supporters we were very much one.

“That was a marvellous tribute to the boy. It’s ironic this is now our last home game and it’s nearly a year to the day of what happened.

“So this will be a poignant moment in many ways, but our objective is still for supporters and players to come together and achieve together.

“This is our chance to be at home and to have our fans being as hostile and as motivated as they can from the first minute.

“As a team we have to take the game to the opponent. It’s about coming together and we have certainly shown that as a team.

“We have a closeness which was shown when Stephen Dobbie came off in the first leg after the sending-off.

“His reaction – as others have been when they’ve not been involved – shows the closeness we have as a group.

“We are ready together and I’m sure the fans will be ready too."
