Brendan Rodgers will be in the opposing dugout to David Moyes tonight but has the utmost respect for the man who leads Everton

Rodgers saidย โ€œDavid has done a terrific job there to keep them up the top end of the table for so many years

โ€œI have an immense respect for him and feel heโ€™s done a remarkable job there. Heโ€™s one of those managers who deserves a crack at a big club.

โ€œHeโ€™s one of the British managers who has been consistent over the years at that level. Heโ€™s a role model for young managers and coaches.

โ€œHe was at Preston as a young manager, did a good job there and he got the opportunity at Everton.

โ€œHeโ€™s been supported well by an excellent chairman.

โ€œThey donโ€™t have the resources of their counterparts across the way, but heโ€™s made them competitive.

โ€œHeโ€™s a manager who deserves the opportunity, not necessarily at a big club because Everton are a big club… but the opportunity to win trophies.

โ€œHopefully the likes of Harry Redknapp and David are opening the door for British managers to manage the big clubs, and David certainly deserves that opportunity.โ€
