Brendan Rodgers will be in the opposing dugout to David Moyes tonight but has the utmost respect for the man who leads Everton
Rodgers said “David has done a terrific job there to keep them up the top end of the table for so many years
“I have an immense respect for him and feel he’s done a remarkable job there. He’s one of those managers who deserves a crack at a big club.
“He’s one of the British managers who has been consistent over the years at that level. He’s a role model for young managers and coaches.
“He was at Preston as a young manager, did a good job there and he got the opportunity at Everton.
“He’s been supported well by an excellent chairman.
“They don’t have the resources of their counterparts across the way, but he’s made them competitive.
“He’s a manager who deserves the opportunity, not necessarily at a big club because Everton are a big club… but the opportunity to win trophies.
“Hopefully the likes of Harry Redknapp and David are opening the door for British managers to manage the big clubs, and David certainly deserves that opportunity.”
