International breaks are always a concern for any club manager and Steve Cooper’s worst fears could come true as we possibly face losing top scorer Andre Ayew for four games due to an injury.

Ayew was on target twice last Thursday as Ghana beat Sudan in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but missed the second leg due to the injury which he picked up in training.

And Modern Ghana has now reported that Ayew has returned to Swansea so we can see the exact extent if his injury with the report suggesting that he will miss the next four or five games, a huge blow to Cooper’s preparations for the weekend visit of Rotherham.

Ayew has been on target five times already this season together with his one assist and his absence – if confirmed – will be a blow for a side who are looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of defeat at Norwich in our last game.

The club have, to date, stayed silent on the injury so we await news from the Liberty this week.
