Newcastle United have been linked with a move for released Swansea City striker Andre Ayew according to reports in Ghana Soccernet.

The report states “The Magpies are in the market for forwards and the Ghanaian appears to be top on their list, which also has Chelsea frontman Olivier Giroud.

“According to information gathered by GHANASoccernet.com, the St James’ Park side are willing to strike a deal with the former Marseille attacker.”

Ayew was the Swans leading scorer last season as we progressed as far as the play off final but was released at the end of the season with the club clearly needing to get his high wage off the wage bill.

He has already been linked with moves to both Celtic and Leeds United and the Newcastle link will make sense given the fact that they are keen to strengthen up front ahead of next season.

Former club Fenerbache are also in the running for the signature of the Ghana captain.
