One of the Swans transfer targets of the summer appears to be out of reach now with the news that Jimmy Dunne is about to sign for QPR.

It has been a busy 24 hors at Loftus Road with Dunne set to follow hot on the heels of Sam McCallum who has joined on a season-long loan from Norwich City.

The Swans had targeted Dunne to add some extra strength in depth to a defence that lost Marc Guehi at the end of last season when his loan ended and he returned to Chelsea.

However, he is now reported as undergoing a medical at QPR leaving the Swans needing to look elsewhere for defensive resources.

Dunne rose through the ranks at Man Unitedโ€™s academy before joining Burnley in 2017.

He has spent time out on loan with Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Hearts, Sunderland and Fleetwood Town since signing for Sean Dycheโ€™s side.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 made his senior debut for Burnley in the League Cup against Sheffield United last September.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.

  1. No great loss. We have some wonderful young defenders who need a chance to experience the Championship before next years Premiership campaign.
