Ryan Bennett has agreed to terminate his contract at Swansea City to become a free agent before the transfer window closes.

The Swans centre back has been out of favour since he made his 49th appearance for the club in the 5-1 defeat against Fulham and Russell Martin has made it clear that he wasn’t in his plans moving forward.

His contract – which is said to have been one of the highest salaries at the club – was due to run until the end of the current season but now Swansea and Bennett have come to an agreement to release the player.

It will allow him to sign for any club after the window has shut something which wouldn’t have been possible had the agreement been reached after deadline day.

There has been no indication whether the club have paid up the majority of the player’s contract although one would imagine that Bennett would have seen a reasonable pay off.

The Swans managed to retain the services of both star strikers in a quiet deadline day whilst also secure the signature of Welsh right back Fin Stevens from Brentford.

  1. Best move for everybody .If weโ€™ve paid about half his remaiming contract heโ€™s picked up about ยฃ300,000 and weโ€™ve saved the same – all guess work of course .Itโ€™s also allowed him to get on with his career.Should probably have been done a while ago becsuse noone was ever going to buy him .Letโ€™s hope the club lesrn from it .

    1. My best wishes to Ryan Bennett, who played such an important role during Steve Coopers time, and will no doubt find a club that appreciate him.

Let’s hope RM will be going out the exit door soon, before him and his coaching team cause anymore mess.
