The name of Jimmy Thelin was probably one that not many Swans fans had heard of twenty four hours ago but if reports online yesterday are to be believed then he is now a new managerial target for the Swans as the search to replace Michael Duff continues.

Whilst Tottenham coach Chris Davies seemingly remains the number one target it was always expected to be that names would be linked with the job as the search goes on but it is maybe surprisingly the name of Thelin that will raise a few eyebrows.

The report from Football Insider originally says that “Elfsborg manager Jimmy Thelin is under consideration for the manager job at Swansea City

“The Swede is on the radar of the Championship outfit along with several other clubs after his impressive work at the Swedish club.”

That work has seen Elfsborg rise from a mid table side to championship contenders and earned Thelin a reputation as one of the best young coaches in European Football after they only missed out on a league title this season on goal difference to Malmo.ย  Thelin is also reported to have held talks with Westerlo over their own managerial vacancy.

The Swedish season restarts in April.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.

2 thought on “Is Jimmy Thelin a managerial target for the Swans?”
  1. A few of us were mentioning him in the summer.
His Elfsborg averages equate to a play off place in the Championship.
Friends in Sweden reckon they play ‘good’ football.

  2. Not heard of him personally but I prefer this over Davies personally. He seems loyal when he starts a job and anyone who gets that close to winning a league no matter what level has a winning mentality
