Bristol City are being reported as making an enquiry to Swansea City for defender Harry Darling – the Swans have knocked back the enquiry at least for now.

It should be stressed that an enquiry does not constitute a bid but I certainly wouldn’t rule out Bristol City returning with something more concrete to test the Swans resolve to hold onto one of their better players.

Darling is out of contract at the end of the season which will be one of the reasons why the Robins think that they may be able to construct a deal to tempt us to part company.ย  Darling has consistently been one of our strongest defenders over the past couple of seasons and adds an attacking elements at set pieces where you always get a half a feeling that a goal could be coming from him when he heads further up the pitch.

The enquiry was reported by Pete O’Rourke on X – not always the most reliable of sources or at least not always the most reliable on reporting on deals that complete.

It is difficult to know from this exactly what the discussion was between the two clubs but if there is any sign that the Swans could be prepared to cash in then expect others to come forward at the same time.

Would be a shame to lose him, he deserves a new long term contract but if heโ€™s not wanting to sign it then we have to cash in simple, we canโ€™t afford to let players go for nothing.

I would be concerned if we lost Darling or even Cabango because the showing from Pedersen and Abbey tonight was concerning.

Ideally come 11pm Friday, we lose Tjoe a On and Pedersen and bring in another centre half to come in and compete with Darling and Cabango.

This is what happens when the club have clearly lowered fans expectations.. don't fall for it magicdaps.. Darling and Cabango are average, Pedersen is gone, Abbey played one game, Guehi looked rubbish an all.. don't get drawn into the trap

Pederson i thought was decent again tonight, didnt help him having to play right side tonight and with a nervous debutant beside him. Guy has good pedigree and experience would be more than happy to have him alongside Cabango if darling left

I thought abbey showed some signs.

Loooked confident (perhaps overly so) and did give it away a few times but certainly no worse than bongo
