Luke Williams’ clear reluctance to separate himself from the West Brom managerial vacancy is quite telling at the moment and has certainly put a very large block between himself and his employers that, even if the Hawthorns job doesn’t come up, may never be repaired.

Williams has had more than one opportunity to put a line in the sand and say he is not interested but it is clear that he is flattered by the links and would more than happily talk to the Baggies if/when they come calling and right now it is difficult to believe that Swansea City would stand in his way.

There can be little doubt at the moment that Chairman Andy Coleman will be more than a little miffed at the way his football manager has responded to the questions asked about the interest from the West Midlands.ย  From Sunday’s just bizarre comment about contacting his agent to the one at Fratton Park that referenced how they would have lost interest had they watched the abject display of the Swans in the 4-0 defeat.ย  ย They are certainly not comments of a man happy in his role and I don’t suspect that they will have done any more for Coleman then they would have done for the majority of Swans fans.

The only question now that really needs to be thought about is whether West Brom actually do make contact with the Swans and ask to speak to Williams – maybe they already have?ย  It is certainly the case at the moment that speculation is that an approach may have already been made for Williams although the claims are unsubstantiated but numoerous suggestions are there could be talks before the two sides meet on Saturday. ย Should that happen it will certainly make for an interesting clash at the Swansea.com Stadium!.ย  Whether that contact comes or not remains to be seen but I would imagine that Williams is, as a minimum, heading for talks with Coleman over events of the past few days.

It is hard to believe that just a week ago as the Swans brushed aside QPR at the Swansea.com Stadium any of this would happen and whilst there has been suggestions that Williams was of interest to West Brom before the departure of Carlos Corberรกn it is difficult to believe that is anything other than twitter speculation?ย  ย As the news broke on Sunday that Williams was “of interest” to the Baggies it has spiralled since that moment with Luke installed as the bookies favourite partly fuelled no doubt by his odd choice of answers to the local press.

So now we come to what happens if West Brom don’t show an interest?ย  ย There have already been rumours that things are not good behind the scenes although there is nothing concrete to back that up to anything other than rumours.ย  There have also been suggestions that Williams is making his job here untenable with his comments and you can certainly understand where that rumour is coming from.ย  ย The question here is therefore how much damage Andy Coleman believes that Luke Williams’ comments have caused.ย  ย I certainly don’t buy the argument that he had made his position untenable but he has certainly made it very difficult as a relationship would almost need to be rebuilt and everyone knows that a relationship between a Chairman and a manager is essential.

As we put to bed yesterday’s 4-0 defeat at Portsmouth our thoughts for 48 hours turn to the management speculation and we sit back and wait with interest what happens next but whatever it is everyone knows that Luke Williams has done himself no favours this week and for that he only has himself to blame.

LW isn't the brightest when it comes to public facing PR.

He could have responded with " my focus is here during a busy Xmas period of games to progress the group "

That would have covered his back and diverted the reporters to some degree.

There is no doubt though he would take the Albion job if offered following in the footsteps of RM working up the leagues without any notable success at this level.

A particular highlight was when he mentioned Rushworth had signed on for another year.

It is getting to a stage where I'll be disappointed if he stays.

To be honest the way itโ€™s playing out heโ€™s burnt bridges with a lot of fans in my opinion, itโ€™ll be tough to come back from this if he doesnโ€™t move.

Majority of the fans will have the same apathy towards him as they did Martin during his twenty odd games without a win.

He reminds me of myself a bit. I get the impression he's trying a bit too hard to remain casual and 'cool', meaning the words that come out of his mouth aren't really the ones he's thinking of in his brain.

I could 100% see myself saying something like 'if WBA owners were here today, they wouldn't be touching me!' as a little joke to try and break the tension without thinking through the actual connetations of what I'm saying - full disclosure that I'm not a professional football manager (sorry!).

All that being said, would be pretty keen for WBA to take him.

He gets paid an awful lot of money and has been doing this job at various levels for a long time. The way he deals with the media should be a lot better than this.

I don't disagree, I'm not defending him.

It's something I've noticed since day one of him being here, he stumbles on his words and says the literal wrong thing quite often.

It's tough though, as he's a bit of a character, and I find myself moaning about the sanitsation and lack of characters in football, so feel harsh critiquing him for being a bit different - appreciate that he's not exactly Brian Clough, personality wise

Itโ€™s just mental, next manager please donโ€™t fist pump or sing YJB to the fans, but then again Duff didnโ€™t and he got pelters for saying heโ€™d rather promotion than beating Cardiff.

Beat WBA and many will be demanding he gets a new improved contract to keep him!

Football fans (me included) are stupid about their club one way or another.

Iโ€™d had enough of him long before yesterday, but would have happily swallowed it if weโ€™d kept on improving and winning, and will do if we start improving and winning again. I donโ€™t think we will though. Not sure thatโ€™s all his fault now mindโ€ฆthe lazy sackless overpaid lot on the pitch have far too much form for winning a couple and then having a day off. They seem happy to do that and take their barrowloads of cash. His and Martins style of play will always be garbage though, so heโ€™s never going to change anything.

Iโ€™d be astonished if WBA really want anything to do with him after reflecting on it. They canโ€™t surely be that stupid.

He's been dealing with the media for a long time. The way he acts as if he's an interim manager thrown in front of the cameras for the first time.

I'm all for characters and personalities in life. I wouldn't want my CEO waffling shit like this fella does half the time.
