Swansea City were poised to land a plum tie at Liverpool in the fourth round when they crashed out of the FA Cup at Havant back in January.

The then runaway League One leaders were shocked by the non league side who enjoyed their day in the spotlight and led twice at Anfield before eventually being overrun.

And with this year’s draw throwing them another away trip to non league opposition in Histon, the Swans midfielder believes that this time around they can finally put that defeat to bed and progress to Round Four.

Speaking to Wales on Sunday, Britton said โ€œItโ€™s good to have the opportunity to put it to bed

โ€œAnd at least we donโ€™t need to be told about what weโ€™re going to face. We know itโ€™s going to be tough.

โ€œWe had five games against non-league sides last year and theyโ€™re all fresh in the memory, especially the one we lost.

โ€œWe just have to make sure we donโ€™t make the same mistake twice.

โ€œWhen youโ€™re a league side, you donโ€™t expect to get beaten by a non-league side, whoever you are.

โ€œItโ€™s not a nice feeling when you lose in your own division, let alone in the cup against a side quite a few divisions below you.

โ€œAnd then when we lost the opportunity to play Liverpool, that hurt in its own right.

โ€œI, for one, havenโ€™t had the chance to play in a massive stadium against a side like that.

โ€œBut shocks happen and we had to bounce back, which we did.

โ€œYou canโ€™t beat yourself up about it forever.

โ€œPeople still give me stick โ€“ Jason Scotland constantly reminds me โ€“ but itโ€™s gone, itโ€™s in the past.

โ€œThe whole night was just a horrible experience.

โ€œThe weather was terrible, the pitch was bad, the fans were right on top of you. It wasnโ€™t nice at all.

โ€œFor the next day or two we were down, but we had two quick games and won both, so it clearly didnโ€™t affect us.

โ€œBut we can remember what it felt like and we will use that against Histon.

โ€œIt was a little bit disrespectful,โ€ admitted Britton in reply to questions about Histon’s reaction to the draw, โ€œbut in a way I can understand it.

โ€œTheyโ€™ve done well to get to the third round and it might have been their only chance to have drawn one of the top sides in the country.

โ€œThey would have had their hearts set on a Premiership team or a day out at a big club.

โ€œWe know weโ€™re not a glamour tie.โ€
