The Swansea City boss will come face to face with the Championship’s biggest team on Saturday when his 4th placed side take on the league leaders on their own patch.

And despite Newcastle’s huge financial muscle in this division, Sousa says the vision of the football club he joined in June is better for him than any of the money behind his hosts for the afternoon.

Speaking to the Western Mail, the Swans boss said โ€œIt is quite normal for a club like Newcastle and the players they have to be in the Premier League โ€“ that is where they belong

โ€œThey have players who have cost a lot of money and for that they will get promoted at the end of the season.

โ€œBut I have always said itโ€™s the ideas and visions of a club that make the difference.

โ€œMoney helps you achieve success โ€“ but without ideas it means nothing.

โ€œYou can keep spending but it doesnโ€™t bring success. It is not just the case with Newcastle, you can look around not only here but also in Europe and see the same thing.

โ€œNewcastle have a brilliant past but no team can live in their past โ€“ itโ€™s the present and a future of a club that must be alive.

โ€œI am not envious of Newcastle and the money they have spent,โ€ Sousa said.

โ€œMoney can help you achieve things quicker, but what they have I do not care. I care about my club because this is my reality.

โ€œWe had Craig Beattie for ยฃ500,000 โ€“ but now he costs more if others want to buy him. They are the players I want.

โ€œSometimes the cost of sides and the quality it brings can reflect a lot, as Newcastle have shown by not being at 100 per cent but still winning games as I have seen.

โ€œBut I believe if you have good ideas and work hard as well, you can disturb them, create problems and put them under pressure because they need to win all the time.

โ€œWe believe we are at a point here where we can be competitive. We can be stronger, we have space to grow, but we can be competitive.โ€
