The Swansea City manager was responding to speculation that suggested Keane was about to make a move for Beattie as he looks to strengthen his own promotion chasing squad.

But Rodgers said the talk at the moment was pure speculation as he explained to the Western Mail โ€œI havenโ€™t heard anything and, to be fair to Roy, we speak reasonably regularly. We speak very openly on players so unless there is a message on my phone I havenโ€™t heard anything.

โ€œItโ€™s something I would speak to Craig about and see where we are at.

โ€œAt the moment he has got a slight injury, but should be coming back.

โ€œHe missed the end of last season, came back, worked very hard over the summer, came back into pre-season and broke down.

โ€œThen, having had a number of weeks out, had just returned to training last week and picked up a little niggle.

โ€œSo at the moment he is not in contention for us. But it is something we would look at and take it from there.

โ€œBut, at the moment, itโ€™s just speculation so I canโ€™t really say to much on that.โ€
