Rangel told theย Western Mailย โ€œI wasnโ€™t really expecting to start because the back four have been outstanding,โ€ said Rangel.

โ€œNeil Taylor has done really well coming from the Conference, heโ€™s settled in quickly.

โ€œItโ€™s the same with the performances of Alan Tate on the left or the right as well as Monks (Garry Monk) and Ash (Ashley Williams).

โ€œIโ€™m just happy that the gaffer has got faith in me and Iโ€™m very grateful for that.

โ€œI had half-an-hour at Watford and I donโ€™t think I was at my best, especially after being out for a while.

โ€œBut, when the gaffer told me the side that would start against Derby, I felt really good.

โ€œThe gaffer says he respects the experienced players at this level and Iโ€™m pleased to hear that.

โ€œObviously I need to play games now,โ€ he said.

โ€œItโ€™s not just about one game, I want to be playing week-in week-out until the end of the season.

โ€œBut the break has not come at a good time for me.

โ€œIโ€™ve just played one game and half-an-hour, but Iโ€™ll get the batteries charged again and hopefully when we come back we can win games.โ€

And Rangel said he is delighted that Swansea are more attack-minded this season under Rodgers than his predecessor Paulo Sousa.

โ€œItโ€™s still early in the season, but itโ€™s great to see the team has been scoring goals this season,โ€ he said.

โ€œWe play open football and try to create chances.

โ€œWe lacked the last pass to score, but Derby are a very experienced team and they were well-organised.

โ€œBut we have started the season well and itโ€™s good to be in the top 10.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got a bigger squad and two players for each position, which is what you need if youโ€™re going to be in the top six.โ€
