The Swansea City defender will set a club record on Sunday with his 107th successive league appearance for the club – the most ever achieved by an outfield player.
And he is ready for the tough test that coming face to face with Bellamy will bring although he is warning the Swans not to place all their focus on the loan star.
“I am sure he is going to be extra lively in this one and that’s just the way he is,” Williams told the Western Mail.
“He could be playing a cup game against a League Two side and he will still be exactly the same.
“I’m sure he will ruffle a few feathers this weekend and I’ll be telling the boys to just ignore him.
“The boys know about him already and I am sure we will be able to laugh about it afterwards when we meet back up for Wales.
“It’s the first time I will have played against him and I’ve always said he is the best player I have ever played with. Probably a lot of players who have played with him would say the same.
“I’m looking forward to playing against him to see what it’s like.
“I watched Cardiff against Leeds and he was unbelievable, he looked really sharp and at the top of his game.
“If I am put up against him I am sure my time playing with him will stand me in good stead or I can speak to whoever is marking him and that should help us.
“It will be nice for the boys to play against a Premiership striker.
“Hopefully we can close him out and it will be a feather in everyone’s cap.
“We won’t be focusing on Bellamy too much because they’ve got other people who can hurt you.
“Players want to play against the likes of Bellamy and Michael Chopra because they are Premiership players.
“Credit to them because they are raising the quality of the league.
“It’s a massive game, but in our camp we are looking at it like just another big game, the same as QPR a few weeks back.
“I’m sure if we win the game we will get seven seconds on the Football League show instead of five,” says Williams with a wry smile.
“It’s always been the same since I came here, we don’t moan about it any more we just get on with it.
“We are quite happy to be under the radar because it gives us that surprise element.
“Hopefully we will make the headlines on Sunday for the right reasons.
“It’s probably the best form we’ve been in going into a derby game and we want to keep that going as long as possible.
“It’s a nice feeling in the squad. We are very confident, but I don’t think we are over-confident.
“I felt over-confident before with teams, maybe here, but now we just go about our business quietly.
“We’ve shown we can go away and win, which was a problem at the start of the season, move onto the next game and get a win.
“We’ve got a good squad and the manager’s done really well, with the older players we have and the new players coming in we are looking quite strong.
“Cardiff are a good attacking team, but you only have to look at our defensive record over the last few years.
“Against Cardiff we’ve been quite happy with how we play, obviously we lost last year, but we tend to do well against the big teams and they are certainly one of the big teams.
“We are both up the top so it makes it a bit more important.”
“This is what I like and it’s what I play for, big games with big atmospheres.”
