Williams has this week been again linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium but also looks set to sign a new deal that will extend his contract at the club.

And ever the true pro, the Wales captain is concentrating on the job in hand starting this afternoon at Doncaster.

โ€œItโ€™s always nice to hear your name mentioned, it shows you are doing things the right way” he told the Western Mail

โ€œSomeone told me about the rumours and I had a look. Itโ€™s always nice to be making good headlines but I donโ€™t know where it came from and I havenโ€™t heard anything.

โ€œIโ€™ve had this a few times in my career with Swansea.

โ€œI donโ€™t take any notice of it I just concentrate on getting on with my job.

โ€œIf I was a manager in the Premier League I would definitely be coming down to check us out,โ€ said Williams.

โ€œPeople have stepped up this season and itโ€™s been a bit like having some new players, thatโ€™s all down to the gaffer.

โ€œEveryone knows about us now and we have shown what weโ€™ve got over the last couple of years.

โ€œThis team gives you the platform to perform.

โ€œMonks and Tate are obviously a big loss but the great thing about the squad now is weโ€™ve got good players who can come in.

โ€œTaylorโ€™s been a different class for us and Albertโ€™s worked very hard and been patient for his chance.

โ€œIโ€™ve played with them both quite a bit so Iโ€™ve got no worries with those two coming into the side.

โ€œWe are in the middle of a really good run away from home and we want to keep that going.

โ€œIt is almost a little easier away from home because teams are trying to win the game not just defend like at the Liberty.

โ€œItโ€™s a credit to the way we both play,โ€ said Swanseaโ€™s Williams.

โ€œSometimes when you canโ€™t go out and buy the biggest and best players you have to do something a bit different.

โ€œWhen you come up from League One itโ€™s a brave move to then try and keep playing football, many teams change their style to survive.

โ€œTheyโ€™ve got some really good footballers there who know how to play.

โ€œBrian is probably one of the best midfielders in this league.

โ€œHe is someone who can control a game and has been the heart and soul of Doncaster over the last few years, he really makes things tick from the middle.

โ€œHeโ€™s got a lot of qualities, his passing and his reading of the game.

โ€œDavid Healy is a top-class striker and it will be a difficult game for us.

โ€œDoncaster are a nice team to watch and will try to play the game the same way as us.

โ€œThey are always good games and ones I enjoy playing in.

โ€œItโ€™s never a boring game. We are always pitched as two of the best footballing sides in the league.”
