Reports before Christmas suggested that Van Der Gun had instructed his agent to find him a move away from Swansea but after his FA Cup appearance and goal at the weekend he still thinks he can make a difference to the promotion push – if he is given the chance to do so.

He told the Western Mail โ€œWe have a very good team and I believe I can fit in pretty well when I play

โ€œThis year I havenโ€™t played a lot of games but when I have, Iโ€™ve felt good.

โ€œI havenโ€™t been playing my best football yet, I know I can play better.

โ€œBut I am happy with my performances in the games I have played.

โ€œI know I can do even better. You play your best football when you play regularly.

โ€œEvery player wants to play,โ€ added van der Gun.

โ€œIโ€™m no different, I want to play every week.

โ€œI had the opportunity and I thought I played well, especially having not played much at all recently.

โ€œFor every player itโ€™s difficult when you are not playing a lot.

โ€œI have no idea at the moment [if I will leave].

โ€œI will have to wait and see what happens.

โ€œFor now, I am really happy to play a full 90 minutes, score a goal and now we will see from here.

โ€œIโ€™m happy to be back playing.

โ€œIโ€™ve had a few games now where I have not been involved in the squad, so it was important for me to get back in.

โ€œTo score a goal is always nice and I feel pretty confident in the way I play.โ€

Asked about the situation regards Van Der Gun, Brendan Rodgers told the same paper โ€œItโ€™s been difficult for Cedric, thereโ€™s no getting away from that,

โ€œBut heโ€™s trained and worked exceptionally hard every day and his professionalism is very, very good.

โ€œI canโ€™t say never because heโ€™s a player that when you get to that age and that part of your career you want to play.โ€
