The Swansea City goalkeeper will face up against James tonight when the Swans take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate with the England international still going strong despite his advancing age.
De Vries will return to the side tonight after being rested for Saturday’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Leyton Orient and he insists there is no extra pressure on him to keep clean sheets despite the Swans apparent lack of goals in the team
“There’s no more pressure, no more responsibility,
“Whatever happens in games we go into each one with the same task and that’s to get the clean sheet that can help win you the game.
“People expect that from us guys at the back now and that’s fine because we have the same attitude, regardless of who we play we have the same responsibility of not wanting to let anyone down.
“It will be the same against Bristol City.
“David James has been a magnificent goalkeeper who’s done it at the highest level for a long, long time,
“He’s a great professional and a bit like Edwin van der Sar. He shows if you have the right attitude you can go on for a long time in this game.
“But more than that, they’re guys who’ve proven time and time again that a good goalkeeper can really give a platform to a team and that’s something I’ve tried to develop in my game.
“It’s a massive month for us, we know that,
“But it’s one we can look forward to. We know what we’re fighting for and we know what it takes in every game we go into, starting against Bristol City.”
