Alan Pardew claimed that his side were undone by Swansea’s greater experience

โ€œUp until Swansea scored I thought we were doing a great job,โ€ said Pardew.

โ€œOur work rate was excellent but we were missing a lot of our senior players and when Swansea scored we didnโ€™t react as we should have.

โ€œSwansea had a lot more experience out on the field that us and it showed.

โ€œWe kept being told that the decision would be overturned and that Senegal would let Papiss play but it wasnโ€™t until about 1.40pm that we found out he was not going to be able to play so of course it affected us.

โ€œWe did nothing wrong and he was a big miss for us. We did lots of things right but in the final third we were lacking something.

โ€œThe players did their best against a very good Swansea side who moved the ball around well.

โ€œBut we were missing a lot of our senior players and it showed.

โ€œOf course no-one wants to lose two home games in a row but when things are going against you, you need your senior players around and we have not had them available.

โ€œYou only had to look at our bench to see we were missing some big players and that makes things very hard.

โ€œBut I thought we were much better than the performance against West Ham.

โ€œI am not going to have a go at my players because I thought their work rate was excellent.โ€
