You could of course argue that with a bit more luck we could have gone on and won the game had Lee Probert decided that there was ten more seconds in the game when he blew the final whistle but that’s for another story.

This time around it was Leon Britton who created the bit of luck and seasons can sometimes turn on the back of the lucky deflection that saw the Swans grab a deserved equaliser on an entertaining evening at the Emirates.

The Swans had battled hard to keep them in a position where they had the chance of that point and you could state that they were probably unlucky to be behind at the moment of the deflected goal but it was a gritty performance with the levels of determination that we need to show if we are to stay in this division for another season.

Captain Williams was not worried though about how the equaliser came as he explained after the game รขโ‚ฌล“To get a point against a team challenging for the title is pleasing

รขโ‚ฌล“There is an element of disappointment because we led for so long, but on the whole itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs a good point.

รขโ‚ฌล“When youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre walking off the pitch youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre thinking was it a point gained or two dropped, but when we reflect on the game itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs a point that takes us to the 30 landmark.

รขโ‚ฌล“But I feel that we needed a goal like that. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve not had luck like that this season so it was nice to finally get the rub of the green.

รขโ‚ฌล“Leon got in there and then had a heavy touch before it took a few deflections. It looked like a comedy goal, but we needed something like that to change our luck.

รขโ‚ฌล“People sometimes criticise us for trying to score the perfect goal, but today we had a nasty goal and we loved every bit of it.รขโ‚ฌย

When you reach the business end of the season you are certainly needing the ball to run your way at key times and last night was one of the few times I can recall it happening this season.

After poor home showings against Crystal Palace and West Brom and the unlucky defeat at Everton it is nice to come away from a game knowing that for once it went your way and also that it could have been better had Probert let the game flow at the end.

รขโ‚ฌล“We left everything out on the pitch. The boys are knackered but we feel very positive. ” added Williams

รขโ‚ฌล“Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs important to stay positive. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve taken a lot from our performances in Napoli, Liverpool and Everton despite losing.

รขโ‚ฌล“If you stay positive then good things will happen.รขโ‚ฌย

That positive viewpoint needs to stay in the mind ahead of the weekend clash with Norwich where we could really reduce dramatically those relegation fears.
