The Swans were trying to get themselves back into the game when Rangel went down under challenge in the penalty area but as the claims went up for a penalty, the Swans defender was shown a yellow card for simulation with very little argument.

Speaking about the incident after the game the long serving defender admitted that the referee got the decision spot on as he explained รขโ‚ฌล“At the end of the day, I did dive and if it is a dive, it is a yellow card, so that is clear.

รขโ‚ฌล“He did touch me, but I thought it was a soft penalty.

รขโ‚ฌล“And if you donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt give the penalty it has to be a yellow card so I took it well and I said รขโ‚ฌหœwell done.รขโ‚ฌโ„ข

รขโ‚ฌล“He did put his foot in and he touched my left foot but it wasnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt enough contact for me to go down.

รขโ‚ฌล“I was losing my balance and I thought รขโ‚ฌหœit is not like really cheatingรขโ‚ฌโ„ข but I was falling already, so I just tried to claim it.รขโ‚ฌย

Rangel was at the centre of a diving row last season at Stoke when it was claimed that Victor Moses dived under his challenge to earn the home side a penalty which bought them back into a game that they eventually won.

At the time, then Swans boss Garry Monk said that he would not tolerate incidents like that from his players but even though he has departed it makes a refreshing change to read the honesty of Rangel in situations like that.
