The Swans and Blackburn go head to head in the season opener at Ewood Park tomorrow but, if press reports are to be believed, then Blackburn are already potentially one step ahead of the Swans in the race to sign Leeds United defender Niall Huggins.

Huggins, who made his Premier League debut for Leeds last season is expected to leave Elland Road this summer with the Swans, Blackburn and Coventry all reported to be in the hunt.

Huggins made 17 appearances for Leeds’ under-23s last season as they won the Premier League 2 Division 2 title and that gave him the chance to make his Premier League debut in a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal in February.

Despite being born in York, Huggins qualifies for Wales through his father and has represented Wales at Under 21 level.
