{"id":10631,"date":"2004-03-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-03-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.staging28.planetswans.co.uk\/?p=10631"},"modified":"2020-09-22T11:26:01","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T11:26:01","slug":"swansea-1-doncaster-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jackarmy.net\/wp67\/2004\/03\/05\/swansea-1-doncaster-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Swansea 1 Doncaster 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>Swansea 1 Doncaster 1 <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>Nationwide Report<\/p>\n<p>Nationwide Division Three leaders Doncaster Rovers moved six points clear at the top of the table with a 1-1 draw away to Swansea City.<\/p>\n<p>The early minutes at the Vetch Field saw few clear chances, before Mark Albrighton headed Michael McIndoe&#8217;s cross against the woodwork after 20 minutes, with Brian Murphy beaten.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Mulligan shot wide for Rovers from 20 yards five minutes later, before Leo Fortune-West missed the target from a McIndoe cross just before the half hour.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy then tipped away a Chris Brown drive before the Swans hit the front six minutes before the break.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Roberts latched on to Kevin Nugent&#8217;s header to steer the ball past Andy Warrington from close range.<\/p>\n<p>Fortune-West headed off-target from close in following a JJ Melligan cross to end the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven minutes into the second period Rovers drew level, as Brown ran on to a McIndoe pass to beat Murphy with a right-foot shot.<\/p>\n<p>Straight away Warrington was forced to block a Roberts drive and 20 minutes from time Brown was denied a second goal by Murphy&#8217;s excellent save.<\/p>\n<p>The Swans keeper repeated the trick with nine minutes to play, before Steve Howard made a crucial clearance from a Brown header.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Murphy made another fine stop deep into injury-time to deny sub Adebayo Akinfenwa and ensure that the game ended 1-1.<\/p>\n<p>Planet Football Report<\/p>\n<p>Doncaster Rovers extended their lead of the top of the Third Division to six points over Hull City following a 1-1 draw against Swansea City at Vetch Field.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a bright start from the high-flying Yorkshire visitors, it was the Welsh outfit who struck first shortly before the half time interval. <\/p>\n<p>The home side took the lead on 39 minutes, somewhat against the run of play, when Kevin Nugent&#8217;s long ball was driven home by Stuart Roberts (pictured) past Andy Warrington. <\/p>\n<p>The league leaders struck back shortly after the break when Chris Brown collected Michael McIndoe&#8217;s square ball before beating keeper Brian Murphy. <\/p>\n<p>The point keeps the Belle Vue outfit clear at the summit of the table, although the draw does little for Swansea&#8217;s play-off hopes with The Swans still seven adrift of sixth place. <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>Why not check out the latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/wales\/southwest\/sites\/mystory\/index.shtml\"> Vetch Verdict<\/a> on the BBC site?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swansea 1 Doncaster 1 Nationwide Report Nationwide Division Three leaders Doncaster Rovers moved six points clear at the top of the table with a 1-1 draw away to Swansea City.
