Big Jon Parkin’s early torpedo sent the Swans sinking to a second defeat in three and reignited the row over the strange exclusion of Roberto Martinez.<\/p>\n

The 31-year old skipper seems almost certain to be heading out of the Vetch because he travelled to Cheshire but didn’t even make the bench.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n\n\n

When asked what would happen if another club showed and interest in him, Swansea boss Kenny Jackett said: “That’s a toughh question. We’d have to cross that bridge when we came to it.<\/p>\n

“I have spoken to Roberto at length about the situation but I would say that his attitude in training has been first clas.. It’s what I expected from him.”<\/p>\n

Ex-Wales defender Jackett sees \u00c2\u00a32,500 a week Martinez, a man signed from Walsall by former chief Brian Flynn as a central midfield players.<\/p>\n

And he’s selecting converted destroyer Kris O’Leary plus pint sized Leon Britton ahead of him.<\/p>\n

Downcast Spanish star Martinez was unwilling to fan his fury last night and vowed to fight on saying “Leaving would be easy but I’m no coward.<\/p>\n

“I’m not prepared to just give up. I need to concentrate on my football now so I don’t want to talk any more about my personal disappointment.”<\/p>\n

The first 45 minutes cried out for his experience as the Swans struggled with a three-pronged centre back system.<\/p>\n

But in a sterling revival after the break, old warhorse Kevin Nugent and O’Leary troubled Macclesfield’s veteran goalkeeper Alan Fettis.<\/p>\n

And Jackett insisted “There are a lot of goals to come from my side. We dominated the play in the second half but I was frustrated because we didn’t get the goal we deserved.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

“I’m disappointed. Somebody said we forced 12 corners in the game and yet we didn’t make anything from one of them”<\/p>\n

A quintet of Swansea players were booked in this clash – Alan Tate, Kevin Austin, Kevin Nugent, Paul Connor and O’Leary – three for dissent by referee Darren Drysdale. And Jackett reflected “That was a disappointing aspect. Regardless of the referee’s performance, there’s no room for that.”<\/p>\n

The Swans were unchanged from the side that had taken three points at Rochdale last Tuesday. That meant veteran striker Nugent rattling up his 579th game.<\/p>\n

Macclesfield, under former Manchester City manager Brian Horton, have sparked a revival after two successive fights to avoid the COnference, And the Silkmen, who had opened their campaign with two wins, were ahead on 17 minutes.<\/p>\n

Mark Bailey, easily skated past Andy Robinson down the right wing and Parkin steadied before thundering right-footed into the net from 12 yards. Swansea’s reply was almost instant and Fettis had to twist in mid-air to divert Robinson’s dipping free kick.<\/p>\n

And the Northern Ireland international did even better to keep out Nugent’s low shot.<\/p>\n

The Swans continued to press in the second half and Connor wasted an excellent chance. Then near the end Fettis again saved from O’Leary.<\/p>\n
