With just fourteen fit players for the weekend visit of Bury, Swans manager Kenny Jackett seems certain to step into the transfer market this week with a target from each of the Bristol clubs possibly to arrive at the Vetch within the next couple of days.<\/p>\n
Jackett will again take a look at long term target March Goodfellow and former Bristol Rovers player Ijah Anderson as he prepares his squad for the weekend fixture severely weakened by suspensions to five players.<\/p>\n
Speaking in tonight’s Evening Post, Jackett said “I’ve never known anything like having five players suspended for one game, but if we can get one or maybe two in it could make all the difference,” Jackett said. “When you look at what we’ve got it’s obvious that we could do with a left-footer and the two closest at the moment are Marc Goodfellow and Ijah Anderson. “Nothing is sorted yet, but if I can I will strengthen the squad this week because I do we feel need some new faces.”<\/p>\n
And he sent out a warning to his players after their indiscipline at Shrewsbury on Saturday cost them three points as well as suspensions to three players to add to Paul Connor and Kris O’Leary who were already facing one match bans<\/p>\n
”We’ve got to learn quickly from what happened at Shrewsbury,” he said. ”Aggression is a fantastic thing but only when it’s controlled. That’s when it wins you games. ”What we can’t have is petulance as we did on Saturday. ”The problem is that there’s an expectancy level among my players now that we should go and win at places like Shrewsbury and sometimes that comes out the wrong way. ”If we’d played Shrewsbury in the first few weeks of the season and we’d gone 1-0 down, okay we’d have been disappointed, but we’d have thought ‘fair enough, it can happen’. ”Now, with the way the league table has taken shape, expectations have gone up. ”But the players have to realise they are going to go a goal down at times when they’re up against sides who are battling for their lives. ”We went behind at Shrewsbury after 20 minutes and the game was far from over – I felt confident we could get a result at 11 against 11. ”Even though we performed admirably in the second half, with only nine men realistically we were never going to win.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
