{"id":13003,"date":"2005-08-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2005-08-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.staging28.planetswans.co.uk\/?p=13003"},"modified":"2020-09-22T11:26:01","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T11:26:01","slug":"one-vision-game-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jackarmy.net\/wp67\/2005\/08\/24\/one-vision-game-one\/","title":{"rendered":"One Vision &#8211; Game One"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>One Vision &#8211; 7th August 2005<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td><a name=\"TopOfPage\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p> A late strike by substitute David Johnson gave Nottingham Forest a positive start to life in League One with a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town. <\/p>\n<p> Gary Megson&#8217;s side are keen to bounce back to The Championship and will buoyed by having taken three points against one of the division&#8217;s promotion favourites. <\/p>\n<p>Forest took a one-goal lead into the break after Scott Dobie converted his own rebound to an initial close range effort on the stroke of half time. <\/p>\n<p>Peter Jackson&#8217;s side drew level on 67 minutes when the prolific Pawel Abbott converted from the penalty spot but Johnson came off the bench to strike Forest&#8217;s winner with three minutes remaining. <\/p>\n<p>Chesterfield lead the table after the opening set of matches after coming from a goal down to defeat Blackpool 3-1 at Bloomfield Road. <\/p>\n<p>Keigan Parker gave The Seasiders an early lead before veteran Wayne Allison levelled matters on 23 minutes for The Spireites. <\/p>\n<p>Mark DeBolla gave the visitors the lead six minutes before half time and Steve Blatherwick assured an away win for Roy McFarland&#8217;s with a third goal in the second half. <\/p>\n<p>Goals by Paul Hayes and Chris Shuker gave Barnsley a 2-0 victory over Swindon Town at Oakwell. <\/p>\n<p>Barnsley&#8217;s Daniel Nardiello and Swindon&#8217;s Jamie Cureton both missed penalties in the match, while Robbie Williams was sent off for a deliberate handball for The Tykes on 57 minutes. <\/p>\n<p>Bradford City recorded a 2-0 win at Hartlepool United, as Dean Windass (8) and Bobby Petta (55) struck for The Bantams at Victoria Park. <\/p>\n<p>A second half strike from Jay Tabb and a late DJ Campbell penalty gave Brentford a 2-0 win over League One new boys Scunthorpe United. <\/p>\n<p>Two goals in two first half minutes from debutants Chris Porter (24) and Paul Warne (26) gave Oldham Athletic a 2-0 win over last season&#8217;s League Two champions Yeovil Town at Boundary Park. <\/p>\n<p>Gillingham put the misery of relegation from The Championship last season behind them after a late Darren Byfield goal gave them a 2-1 win over South East rivals Colchester United. <\/p>\n<p>Neil Danns had given The U&#8217;s the lead five minutes after the break before Andrew Crofts levelled with a quarter of an hour left for The Gills and Byfield struck in the dying stages to take the points for Neale Cooper&#8217;s side. <\/p>\n<p>A first half brace from Nathan Lowndes gave Port Vale a 2-1 win over Southend United at Roots Hall, with Wayne Gray scoring a consolation strike for The Shrimpers. <\/p>\n<p>A dramatic late goal from Jorge Leitao gave Walsall a 2-1 win over Rotherham United at Millmoor. <\/p>\n<p>Kris Taylor put The Saddlers into an early lead before Rotherham&#8217;s Martin Butler took both sides level into the break at 1-1. <\/p>\n<p>That set up Leitao to become the Black Country club&#8217;s hero and earn Paul Merson&#8217;s side their first three points of the new season. <\/p>\n<p>Bournemouth came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Milton Keynes Dons. <\/p>\n<p>A brace from Izale McLeod gave MK Dons a two-goal lead but James Hayter (76) and recent loan signing Andrew Surman (90) salvaged a point for The Cherries. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, Bristol City and Doncaster Rovers had to settle for a goalless draw to start their League One campaigns at Ashton Gate. <\/p>\n<p> Barnsley 2-0 Swindon Blackpool 1-3 Chesterfield Brentford 2-0 Scunthorpe Bristol City 0-0 Doncaster Gillingham 2-1 Colchester Hartlepool 0-2 Bradford MK Dons 2-2 Bournemouth Nottm Forest 2-1 Huddersfield Oldham 2-0 Yeovil Rotherham 1-2 Walsall Southend 1-2 Port Vale Swansea 1-0 Tranmere<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One Vision &#8211; 7th August 2005 A late strike by substitute David Johnson gave Nottingham Forest a positive start to life in League One with a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town.
