Scunthorpe were temporarily top of League One, picking up a convincing 4-1 win against Huddersfield to dislodge The Terriers from top spot. <\/p>\n

A penalty from Peter Beagrie, a brace from Andrew Keogh and Matthew Sparrow’s strikewere enough to give Scunthorpe a big victory, despite a consolation penalty from the prolific boot of Pawel Abbott. <\/p>\n

Blackpool were also winners on their travels – a goal from Ciaran Donnelly sinking Doncaster at Belle Vue. <\/p>\n

Dean Windass and Marc Bridge Wilkinson were both on target to give Barnsley a 2-0 victory over Chesterfield. <\/p>\n

Finally, Bournemouth were held to a goalless draw by Tranmere Rovers.<\/p>\n

Brentford moved to the top of League One with a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest. <\/p>\n

Defender Andrew Frampton put The Bees ahead after 23 minutes, but Forest levelled matters just after the interval through John Thompson. <\/p>\n

Then with 12 minutes remaining, Brentford’s new loan signing from Fulham – Darren Pratley, marked his return to the club with a nice finish after being put clear by fellow substitute Ryan Peters. <\/p>\n

The Bees moved above Scunthorpe on goal difference. <\/p>\n

Also level with Brentford and Scunthorpe at the top are Port Vale, who secured a 2-0 win over Rotherham United at Vale Park. <\/p>\n

Goals in the last minute of either half from Nathan Lowndes and Billy Paytner secured all the points for Martin Foyle’s Valiants. <\/p>\n

Walsall moved into sixth thanks to their 1-0 win at home to Swindon. The only goal of the game came just before the hour mark from England youth starlet Matt Fryatt. <\/p>\n

Bristol City’s dismal start to the new season continued as they were held to a goalless draw by ten-man Colchester United at Ashton Gate. <\/p>\n

The game, shown live on Sky Sports 1<\/em>, was a competitive affair and both sides created chances early on. <\/p>\n

Michael Bridges should havenetted just two minutes inbut he failed to convert from close-range, while Chris Iwelumo was equally guilty of a poor effort after Greg Halford flicked on a near post corner. <\/p>\n

Colchester began to take control and looked the better team as Kevin Watson’s long-range effort stung the palms of Stephen Phillips. <\/p>\n

Then just before the interval Kem Izzet managed to strike the bar from six yards with the goal at his mercy – and that will no doubt go down as one of the misses of the season. <\/p>\n

Into the second period and Wayne Brown was dismissed for violent conduct just before the hour, and that meant Colchester were forced onto the back foot. <\/p>\n

Bristol City pushed late on, but Grant Smith, Bradley Orr, Steven Gillespie and Richard Keogh all missed great chances to register the win. <\/p>\n

At Hartlepool, Yeovil’s long trip back to the West Country will seem half as long as they registered their first win of the season. <\/p>\n

The only goal of the game came 22 minutes from time and it was Town’s Argentine signing Pablo Bastianini who headed home Lee Johnson’s cross to give The Glovers maximum points.<\/p>\n
