Both players have been long term targets of the club and always looked likely to sign – Scotland attracted interest from elsewhere whilst Collins was training with the Swans at the back end of last season.<\/p>\n

The signing of Scotland is still subject to the granting of a work permit with the club currently awaiting a hearing date having submitted their application.<\/p>\n

“I’m delighted to be able to secure a player of Jason’s calibre,” cRoberto Martinez told the official site<\/p>\n

“Goalscorers are the most precious commodity in football and I believe we’ve persuaded a quality striker to join us.<\/p>\n

“He is a striker with all-round ability which will enable him to play in a number of roles that give us different options.<\/p>\n

“He has a magic touch and can make something happen out of nothing. He’s an exciting player who always entertains and attracts the crowds – and players like that are a rare breed.<\/p>\n

“I’m not surprised that there has been a lot of interest in him from a number of clubs, especially as he was due to becomea free agent in August.<\/p>\n

“It’s also a bonus that he knows the British football scene having spent four successful years playing in Scotland.”<\/p>\n

The club is pleased to announce that they have agreed terms with Fulham for the signature of Welsh-born Matthew Collins. <\/p>\n

"Matthew will sign for the Swans on 1st July, when his current deal at Craven Cottage expires.<\/p>\n

"Matthew has represented Wales at Under 17 and Under 19 level and was taken from his hometown of Merthyr by Swindon Town. <\/p>\n

"His displays in their youth ranks caught the eye of Fulham who quickly snapped him up, adding him to their own youth set up."<\/p>\n
