Monk’s Disappointment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Captain Garry Monk could not hide his disappointment after the Swans crashed to a home defeat against Doncaster on Saturday – a game that they were expected to win.<\/p>\n

The Swans produced by far their worst performance of the campaign and were deservedly beaten by a well organised but unspectacular Doncaster side. Speaking after the match, Monk said “We aren’t happy at all, especially losing at home, and that’s not what we want to do<\/p>\n

“We want to win as many games as possible and obviously we are disappointed.<\/p>\n

“You’re not always going to play perfect football like we have done so far, you are going to get games like this, both home and away.<\/p>\n

“We have to show character and this wasn’t good enough.<\/p>\n

“Our preparations and intentions to play at our best were the same, but that’s football<\/p>\n

“You get games when you aren’t on top of your game and maybe one or two of us were below par.<\/p>\n

“But that’s when you pull together and try to get a result. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do that.”<\/p>\n

Monk though refused to blame Ferrie Bodde for the incident which saw the Dutchman red carded but accepted it was a big moment in the game “I think it was the turning point, but even then we should be trying to grind it out,” he said.<\/p>\n

“If you look at Reading the other night, it shows you can do it. We were disappointed to be 1-0 up and lose 2-1.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t see the sending-off, but seeing Ferrie in the changing room, he is bitterly disappointed with himself.<\/p>\n

“He just said, ‘Sorry.’ He held his hands up. If he has done something then it’s unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

And on the referee? “I think he will sleep well tonight because he had his nightmare today!” he joked.<\/p>\n

“I can’t say too much about it, but let’s just say he had an off-day. But it’s irrelevant whether he has a good or bad day, it’s up to us as players to put it to one side and do ourselves justice. We didn’t do that.”<\/p>\n
