A Good few weeks…..<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

It has been a decent few weeks for David Moss, with his under 18 team starting the campaign in winning fashion against Cheltenham Town, winning 3-0. Joe Allen was given his first start in the First Team which eventually led to a 3 year contract being signed. Allen also scored in his Wales U-21 debut with the Welsh winning 4-3. Callum Hawthorne has been involved as well, training with the first team and being included in a match day squad.Moss:<\/p>\n

"It was the perfect start to the season, but it was nearly called off because of the poor conditions<\/p>\n

"I said to them before the game that in conditions like this let’s just make sure defensively we are well organised and fully focused because due to the conditions any mistakes will be capitalised on if we’re not careful. If we got that side of the game right our ability will take over in the end and that proved to be the case."<\/p>\n

Moss was also been very pleased with the attitude of his squad in the build-up to the new season. "We have got a great set of boys here. Physically they are very strong, fit and good technically.<\/p>\n

"I took the boys on personally, so i know what their characters are like. There are no bad characters in the team, they are all excellent boys and I think it showed (against Cheltenham)."<\/p>\n

One of the key roles as Head of Youth Development is to ensure that you help your players progress into first-team football and Moss has been delighted with the progress of Joe Allen.<\/p>\n

"I’m very proud to see him playing at that level; it’s a really great achievement for him and he fully deserves it. He’s a great boy and wouldn’t care what level of football he’s playing; he’ll have the same attitude and some work rate – and that’s where it has got him today.<\/p>\n

"It’s nice to win games, but winning games is not so important at this level. But the progression of players is, and it was topped off with Joe’s performances against Walsall and for Wales."<\/p>\n

The Centre of Excellence teams are back in action tomorrow afternoon after the summer break and Moss says that the kids havehad plenty of preparation."They have been back in pre-season training for nearly two months," he said. "All of our age groups have been involved in competitions against Premiership and foreign teams and have just been fine tuning and getting ready for the start of the season.<\/p>\n

"We need to make sure that we give them good facilities, good training and a good education in order to give them the best possible chance – and that is what we are aiming to do."<\/p>\n
