Nicholas was speaking as he waited to find out his own team’s fate in the draw for the first qualifying stages of the Champions League. <\/p>\n
He was reacting to stories again that the FAW were considering the proposal that would open the door for both Swansea City and Cardiff City to have a route back into Europe.<\/p>\n
Nicholas believes that any such proposal would be unfair on those who had been in the league for a long time and he is also concerned that it won’t necessarily be reserve teams that are fielded – especially at the business end of the season.<\/p>\n
Nicholas told the Western Mail “We understand some people want them to play in Europe and push the profile of Wales<\/p>\n
“It would take away from the teams who have been in the Welsh Premier for years. <\/p>\n
The ambition for these clubs is to get into Europe and it would be very harsh on them to see Cardiff and Swansea come in and take their places.<\/p>\n
