Britton was speaking after the Swans beat Cardiff 1-0 in the third round of the Carling Cup to earn a fourth round place as well as the first South Wales bragging rights of the season.<\/p>\n
But he said to proclaim the Swans as the best team in Wales was a little premature with the highest placed team over the 46 game season being the one who can lay claim to that title.<\/p>\n
He told this week’s Wales on Sunday \u201cYou have to look at the 46 games in the league and who finishes highest \u2013 then you can say who is the better team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fans want us to be No 1 team in Wales. And there\u2019s always a lot of talk between them about the bragging rights. But it was one cup win \u2013 we\u2019re not going to be shouting from the rooftops that we are the best team in Wales just yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo get the win after the years of them being higher than us was nice for the fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the ideal scenario would be to finish higher than them \u2013 they might be the favourites to do that because they\u2019re an experienced side, they\u2019re established in the Championship and this is only our first year at this level \u2013 but we\u2019re all confident we can do well.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the long scheme of things it is not about beating Cardiff, it\u2019s about doing well in the league and trying to progress. The ultimate aim for us is to get into the Premier League.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you want to bring it back to Cardiff, you only have to look to when I first came to the club when we almost dropped out of the League and Cardiff were going up and doing well \u2013 now we\u2019re level pegging.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo see how far the club has come is unbelievable \u2013 and that win against Hull was the kick up the backside everyone needed. We\u2019ve got to the Championship but we\u2019re still aiming high.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve taken the pats on the back and the congratulations for last week \u2013 but that\u2019s gone now.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only thing we can do is take the confidence and move on with it because we know we need to get some good points on the board before the international break.<\/p>\n
